What this site is
Carrier411 Guide is a small, plainly written reference about the federal safety records that exist for motor carriers in the United States. It exists because the records are public and genuinely useful, while the conventions used to present them are opaque to anyone who has not worked with them before.
The audience is anyone who encounters these records and needs to understand them: people working in freight and logistics, students, journalists, and drivers curious about what is recorded against their employer.
What this site is not
- It is not a government website and has no connection to the FMCSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, or any other agency.
- It does not host a copy of federal data and does not offer lookups, monitoring, alerts or reports.
- It does not give advice — legal, insurance, safety, or commercial.
- It does not rate, rank or endorse individual carriers.
Editorial approach
Every page aims to describe what a record means, how it is produced, and where it is commonly misread. Where something is uncertain or contested, the pages say so rather than smoothing it over. Where a limitation exists in the underlying data — the Crash Indicator's treatment of fault, for instance — it is stated directly.
